June 5: Flight to New Zealand
Flight (booked independently – ideally, United direct flight from JFK at 9:55 pm, arriving in AKL at 7:45 am on June 7).

We will visit the unique Waitomo Cave, whose ceilings are covered with thousands of glowworms, creating the effect of a starry sky. We will glide silently by boat on the underground river to experience this beauty. Please remain quiet, as the glowworms can "freak out" and extinguish if disturbed by noise.
Next, we will hike to Marokopa Waterfall, one of New Zealand's most beautiful waterfalls, famous not for its height (35 meters), but for its width and rectangular shape.
We will then visit Lake Taupo, located inside an ancient caldera formed during the super-eruption of Oruanui 25,000 years ago. It’s a favorite spot for New Zealanders for swimming and fishing. We will cruise the lake to see unique Māori rock art visible only from the water.
